Located in a 1940's brick warehouse in San Diego's trendy Little Italy area, mixture is a modern and contemporary home furnishings and accessories store that blends playful accent pieces with high-style design elements. Many of the products carried are hard-to-find lines, exclusive to mixture. They offer interior design services, custom furniture, original art, Scavolini kitchens and baths, furniture, accessories, and gifts.
The goal of mixture is to create a fun, friendly, service-oriented environment that takes the intimidation out of modern furniture/gift shopping and features an ever-changing inventory. Developed to take a young and fresh approach to contemporary design, mixture exudes a relaxed atmosphere, one that welcomes questions and thrives on educating customers on modern design.
Each of the owners had loved San Diego and tried to visit as often as they could while living in their respective cities. They recognized the burgeoning Downtown San Diego residential neighborhoods and felt that Little Italy was the ideal location to launch mixture. Once mixture opened in December of 2003, they began to entice like-minded businesses to move to Kettner Blvd. in hopes of creating a cool shopping area that would encompass all the things that modern design has to offer (clothing, design, art, accessories, even food). In December 2004, mixture was one the founding members of the The Art & Design District in Little Italy. mixture opened its doors with a 2-story loft style 3,500 sq. ft. space. In June of 2006, mixture realized the first of many goals… expansion. mixture is now an 8,000 sq. ft. showroom that includes 3 levels, a Scavolini kitchen showroom and an outdoor courtyard. The owners take full advantage of being able to call San Diego home - mixture's large doors are always opened to the outdoors.
